Managed services firm sets up Middle East operations

Panacea Services brings HP and VMware expertise to multinationals in the Gulf region

A UK-based managed services provider believes it has come up with an answer for multinational customers that lack adequate local IT support in the Middle East by establishing an office in Dubai.

Panacea Services, an HP and VMware partner that specialises in virtualisation and managed services, insists its new UAE outpost will offer customers the peace of mind they need as they expand their operations in the Middle East.

The Dubai office will provide server and desktop engineer support capabilities to Panacea's clients, most of which are understood to be based in Doha, Manama and Abu Dhabi. It claims this will boost customers that have only had internal IT support during the UK working week or who do not find it viable to have permanent IT support based in the region.

Peter Stroud, managing director at Panacea Services, claims many customers with a presence in the Middle East are currently either flying employees out to cover IT issues or relying on "patchy" local support. "We are now able to serve them locally, round the clock, and to our high UK standards, delivering major cost benefits when compared with the local alternatives," he explained.

As well as guaranteeing the training and accreditation of engineers, Panacea says technical staff have experience of complex client engagements and will be backed by a 65-strong team of consultants in the UK. The company intends to scale local headcount in line with the development of its business.
