Networking solutions vendor Netgear has revealed plans to launch a revamped version of its PowerShift Partner Programme this May.

The vendor says it is likely the programme will be re-launched under the same name, but with an increased focus on specialisation of the channel.

Ahmed Zeidan, channel sales manager for the region at Netgear explains the programme will include elements that are unique from the global re-launch of the same programme, which took place this week.

"One of the things that we have had to add here in the Middle East is a rebate," revealed Zeidan. "The programme is definitely needed in the Middle East and the first thing partners involved will understand is that they are not just promoting Netgear as a brand, they are promoting the technology."

According to Zeidan, Netgear breaks up it Middle East business into four segments - retail, SMB , storage and security products. He says the first box that prospective partner members will have to tick is proving they are vertically focused into one of the vendor's product areas. "We don't have partners for Netgear, we have partners for the segment itself. We need specialised partners for each segment or product areas," said Zeidan.

"The main target is for the partners to generate money and to offer more penetration into the market. But what we are trying to bring with this programme is partners that care for the products. They can take care of the products by not only selling them, but by promoting them. They will be part of our marketing and logistics team and also in our RMB products because Netgear is now trying to help the partners by modifying the products to suit the region," said Zeidan.
