OnLine distribution is looking to build on its Convergence Unit portfolio with the appointment of Brian James as manager of the division.

The distributor says that it is seeing an imminent rise in demand for convergence technology - voice, data and image solutions - across the Middle East and believes James is well-placed to meet its objectives.

"Brian has a well rounded background in management and IT, having, in his last stint, managed an IT integration company with capabilities in applications, voice and data networks, in addition to working with the leading IT services and product companies such as NCR in the region," said Venu Menon, sales and marketing director at OnLine.

In his new role James will be responsible for OnLine's business partnerships with 3Com, Extreme, Juniper, Nortel and Transition.

"His appointment as business unit manager is pivotal to the growth of the convergence unit within OnLine, as we are looking to increase our offering and support on focused convergence technologies and bringing onboard a number of channel partners throughout the region," added Menon.

James replaces Zahir Lokare, who recently left OnLine to set up the Middle East operations of Meru Networks.
