If you thought Bluetooth was relatively safe, think again. Telspace Systems will be joining the Hack-in-the-Box event in Dubai in April this year to talk about the technology's vulnerabilities.

How many times have you done a random Bluetooth device check in a theatre and turned up with at least a quarter of the total mobile phones around?

According to Dino Covotsos, managing director of South Africa based Telspace Systems people who are in the habit of having their Bluetooth options switched on all the time might literally be asking for trouble.

Hack in the Box has very high standards and effectively brings information security professionals closer on a critical level.

"Telspace Systems has been focusing on Bluetooth technologies for about a year, trying to raise awareness of the risks associated with Bluetooth devices," says Covotsos.

Covotsos will join the third annual Hack in the Box Security Conference (HITBSecConf), to be held in April 2008 in Dubai, to present on the several means of gaining access to mobile devices, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth carkits and other Bluetooth devices using interesting techniques.

"While that will be the focus of the presentation, we will also be showing how the Apple iTouch can be converted into a fully fledged hacking device. HITBSecConf focuses on real life scenarios which affect every single person out there. We believe that our topic brings even the general public to a better level of awareness. At the same time, for the more technical individuals, it involves uncommon attack vectors," says Covotsos.

Over the last three years, Hack in the Box events in the Middle East have focused on a very high level of information security topics. It is critical that end users and managers obtain the best possible information to protect their networks.

According to Covotsos, HITBSecConf provides a viable platform for everyone to learn the latest hacking techniques and thereby enables them to defend their networks in a much better fashion.

According to Covotsos, Telspace Systems gains the recognition of being associated with a very exclusive and premier security event by being part of HITBSecConf 2008.

The event achieves this status by maintaining very high standards and effectively bringing information security professionals closer on an critical level.

"We believe that HITBSecConf 2008 is unique. No other event in the world is of the same standard in professionalism and at the same time has a relaxed atmosphere about it. This enables like minded people, whether businessmen or techies to learn more about the latest threats in information security," says Covotsos.
