Acer launched the Altos easyStore today, a network storage solution with 3TB of disk space and built in Wi-Fi aimed at small businesses, home networks, and professionals with high security requirements.

While there are multiple low-cost storage solutions available in this sector, the Altos easyStore represents the first to come from Acer and the first to come with Wi-Fi.

The 3TB capacity is achieved using four hard drives that support RAID configuration at levels 5, 10 and 1. Up to 2TB can act as shared storage accessible via a network, optionally making use of the unit’s Gigabit LAN port or the built-in Wi-Fi.

The unit is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, but only those using Windows will have access to the HDD’s automated system backup and recovery software.

All of these features will be accessible via the unit’s Web based GUI.

Acer claim the Altos easyStore will be ‘ideal for the professional sole trader markets which are data intensive and value of data is high – e.g. Industrial design or architecture… In a world of exponentially growing data capacity requirements, both for the small business and the home environment, Acer Altos easyStore represents a very small investment to have full data security and protection.’
