Comstor boss Steve Lockie has been promoted to the role of group managing director at parent Westcon Middle East following a re-jig of the company’s regional management structure.

The move means Lockie will oversee the day-to-day running of Cisco-focused Comstor and its sister company OnLine Distribution, which both fall under the Westcon umbrella and belong to South African networking giant Datatec. Between them, Comstor and OnLine generate regional sales of more than $100 million a year.

Lockie’s appointment will see former OnLine Distribution boss Keith Rich assume the title of emerging markets director for Africa, the Middle East and India — a role that he will carry out from Europe. Rich, who formed the origins of Online Distribution on behalf of its partners 15 years ago, has also been named as the chairman of Westcon Middle East Group.

“Comstor and OnLine Distribution have both achieved impressive business results in recent years, and I am delighted to be leading this dynamic team,” stated Lockie. “Working together, we believe we will be able to significantly develop our positioning in the Middle East, Western Asia, and North Africa.”

The new structure came into effect yesterday to fall in line with Datatec’s financial year.
