Dell has expanded its storage solutions line up, with the launch of a new iSCSI SAN array, Dell EqualLogic PS5000 Series.

The new SAN array has been designed for virtual datacentres, and features iSCSI connectivity, built-in virtualization architecture; modular scalability and storage management and performance configuration features

Jul Johansen, Enterprise Solutions Manager, Dell Middle East commented: "Networked storage has been too complex for too long. Dell EqualLogic helps solve that problem. This is virtualized, consolidated storage in a self-managing, affordable and easy to use, regardless of scale. We're automating complex tasks, enabling fast and flexible provisioning while seamlessly integrating into the existing IT network. That's simplifying IT and this is the future of storage."

The launch is the first product launched as a result of Dell's $1.4 billion purchase of EqualLogic, and marks a move into higher end storage for the company from its existing SMB-oriented solutions.

Dell chairman and CEO Michael Dell said in a statement: "We are committed to simplifying IT and EqualLogic will help us realise that vision for our customers worldwide. Together, Dell and EqualLogic will deliver storage and server virtualization solutions that enable customers of any size to build resilient, flexible datacentres."
