EMC partners in the Middle East will have the option to differentiate themselves in five new solution areas following a series of enhancements to the storage vendor's Velocity² partner programme.

The EMEA-wide changes will allow resellers to specialise in up to five areas - archive, back-up, consolidation, content and security - as part of a move to ensure partners are delivering additional value to the customers. The speciality certifications are based on partners selling a mixture of hardware, software and services in each area.

Partners choosing to go down the specialised route can look forward to a range of benefits such as performance-based rebates and demand generation support, according to EMC.

Velocity² partners are also eligible to join the Authorised Service Network (ASN) scheme to qualify for advanced technical training, access to proprietary EMC service methodologies and tools that are used by the vendor's services specialists.

Samir Achour, channel manager at EMC Middle East, insists the modification of the programme reflects the growing demands of end-customers. "The specialty areas being introduced into the EMC Velocity² Partner Programme will ensure that our partners in this region are qualified to offer a complete solution based on the customer's needs," he said. "The additional services skills set will allow the partner to own the customer relationship from the initial sale, through to implementation and ongoing support."

EMC intends to make the archive, back-up and consolidation specialities available to Middle East partners by the start of the third quarter, but the content and security areas won't be available until a year from now.
