The American Hospital Dubai has begun implementing a new healthcare information system based on technology and services from Meditech, Lawson, Siemens, Cisco Systems, HP and IBM. The aim of the project is to integrate all the hospital's departmental systems and make patient records, clinical systems, radiology systems, and financial and HR records available online.

"We have looked at some of the best healthcare information systems in the USA and decided to invest in the hospital to create a standard equal to that found within the USA system," said Jasper Kateli, CFO, American Hospital Dubai. "The investment in software, hardware, networking infrastructure, along with all the development and staff training program, is a significant management undertaking and a major commitment for the hospital."

The new healthcare information system implementation is scheduled to go live across all departments and functions by the end of 2009. This will coincide with the completion of the hospital's inpatient Bed Tower, which will more than double the current capacity of the hospital.
