Flash storage vendor Microdia has struck an alliance with Dubai-based Genius Computer Technology (GCT) that will see the company serve as its authorised distributor in the region.

GCT is contracted to supply the Middle East, Africa and CIS markets, where it is likely to make use of its reach in the retail sector. The distributor will carry Micromedia's full portfolio of flash memory cards including its professional and entry-level XTRA-branded range, as well as other memory products, USB drives and card readers.

Brad Maurer, sales and marketing director of Microdia, believes GCT's knowledge of the regional market offers it an ideal vehicle to address a large customer base. "With modern facilities and an extensive distribution network that spans the Middle East and North Africa, GCT is in an excellent position to quickly penetrate the market and build the Microdia brand across the region," he said.

Microdia is the latest addition to a GCT portfolio that includes a number of vendors specialising in consumer electronics, gaming devices, peripherals and other computer hardware. Jihad Youssef, general manager at GCT, claims the company's "capabilities" in the regional IT distribution market - where it has been present for more than 20 years - will enable it to promote the Microdia brand to a comprehensive range of customers.
