The work of the IT channel in meeting the increasingly demanding needs of customers, and the efforts of vendors dedicated to local channel development, often goes unnoticed in a region where the pace of transformation is so rapid.

At Channel Middle East we thought it was time to change that.

The combination of commitment, innovation and sheer drive that culminates in so many market success stories deserves to be recognised by the entire channel population. And this year, for the first time ever, I can reveal that it will.

Channel Middle East is proud to announce that it will host the inaugural ‘Channel Awards' in Dubai on Tuesday 25th March 2008 - and you are invited to be part of what is poised to be a memorable evening.

The Channel Middle East Awards will bring together the market's leading names and pay tribute to the sterling work and achievements of individuals and companies in the Middle East channel during the past twelve months. Awards will be given out to both vendors and business partners, including distributors, resellers and retailers.

We've thought long and hard about all the elements that go into creating an awards ceremony that truly recognises distinction in the Middle East channel and the result is a list of categories that we believe reflects the current shape of the market.

There are seventeen awards in total, including three ‘Best' awards voted for by the readers of Channel Middle East. This includes Best Vendor Channel Programme of the Year, Best Distribution Initiative of the Year and Best Reseller Sales Initiative of the Year.

Further to this, a judging panel will assess all nominations and decide which companies deserve to take home the award for the following categories:

Components Vendor of the Year
Networking Vendor of the Year
Peripherals Vendor of the Year
Printing and Consumables Vendor of the Year
Software Vendor of the Year
Systems and Hardware Vendor of the Year
IT Distributor of the Year
Value Added Distributor of the Year
Retail Distributor of the Year
Enterprise Reseller of the Year
SMB and Commercial Reseller of the Year
Retail Company of the Year

The question you are probably asking now is, how do I go about winning one of those awards?

The answer is simple. Just go to www.itp.net/events/channelmeawards and decide which category(s) you wish to enter, then click ‘Enter Here' to download the nomination form.

Then, in no fewer than 400 words, simply document any specific accomplishments and success stories achieved by your company in the past year. Remember, our judging panel will be looking closely at the merits of each entry so it is vital that you make a strong case with enough information to support your nomination!

If you're uncertain about what to write, or need a few helpful pointers with your entry, then click on ‘Nomination Guidelines' on the Awards website menu. Just follow the instructions in front of you and you won't go wrong.

The Channel Middle East Awards are open to all IT companies operating in the Middle East. Companies are free to nominate themselves and can enter as many categories as they wish providing they complete a separate nomination form for each entry.

One important point to note, make sure your nomination forms are sent to cmeawards@itp.com before the closing date of Thursday 14th February 2008.

The Channel Middle East Awards website should be able to answer any questions you have about the nomination process, but if there is anything you are still unclear about then don't hesitate to contact me on andrew.seymour@itp.com or call +971 4 3910889

The countdown to nomination deadline begins now!
