Security software vendor Trend Micro has taken a step to enhance the strength of its Middle East channel by announcing the appointment of two new channel managers. The new faces in the channel will be based in Riyadh and will report to the head office in Dubai.

The company says that the appointment of Arshad Sheikh and Mohammed Hamdan as overseers of its channel comes as part of its preparations for "greater success" in 2008. Sheikh has been given the title of channel account manager having come to Trend Micro from Vision Horizons, where he was executive manager.

He brings with him a distribution and channel experience, gained at Mindware and the National Technology Company, among others. The other half of the duo, Hamdan, has been entrusted with the role of sales engineer in which his function will be to provide partners strategic guidance and updates regarding developments in Trend Micro products and technical enhancements.

"These appointments are part of our continued investment in personnel and proof of our commitment to an expanded service in the region," said Justin Doo, managing director, at Trend Micro Middle East and North Africa. According to Doo, recurrent spectacular successes in the Kingdom have generated growth and increased channel awareness, placing new demands on the organisation. "Capable professionals such as Mohammed Hamdan are pivotal to navigating these new challenges," said Doo.
