Networking vendor and subsidiary of Cisco Systems, Linksys, has revealed to Channel Middle East that it plans to introduce the next level of its recently installed partner programme early next year.

"We are planning to launch in January, for retail and SMB in our specialised partner programme, a two-tier level," said Mohammed Hoda, regional manager at Linksys. "We will have a skillset to do demos and installations and convey the complete messaging around the products not just selling separate boxes."

The company has devised two separate channel programmes, one that focuses on the larger end of the retail sector aimed at hyper and power retailers and one that focuses on the smaller reseller. Linksys are hoping that these developments in its partner scheme will help its channel alliances to focus their efforts on the SMB segment of the market, the sector that it feels is the key to growth over the coming year.

"Partners are not focused enough on small-sized business in terms of end-to-end solutions, education, pricing and in terms of demo products," said Hoda. "We are launching the second phase of our partner programme which will, with the 600 partners that we have in place in the region, include certification based on the specialisation."

Linksys was brought by Cisco Systems in an acquisition that took place in 2008. Its main distribution partners in the Middle East region are Logicom and TDME.
