Etisalat and Nokia have announced a strategic partnership to drive uptake of mobile Internet services.

The partnership will focus on Etisalat customers with Nokia devices, in areas such as mobile downloads, games, image sharing, messaging and media. The two companies will also work on content sharing and delivery, and mobile payments using Nokia handsets.

Kuba Pancewicz, director area accounts, Nokia Middle East and Africa said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Etisalat and not only enhance access to Mobile Internet and Etisalat content services but also bring new Mobile Internet Services to consumers, demonstrating that the Mobile device is becoming people's primary interface to Internet, content and social networks."

Khalifa Al Shamsi, vice president marketing - Consumer & SMB, Etisalat said: "Our investment in excellent broadband mobile networks and focus on Mobile Internet is a clear commitment to ensuring a friendly and easy-to-use service offering that has cemented our leadership position in the market, and established us as a benchmark in the wider region. Through this partnership with Nokia, we are excited about creating new ways of accessing the excellent Mobile Internet services and content from both our own Weyak as well as from Nokia. This will enable even more people to go online from their mobile devices, and experience more advanced mobility."

"Following a successful launch in the UAE, we look forward to expanding our cooperation with Nokia on mobile Internet services to other Etisalat operations in the region", he added.
