KSA-based mobile operator Mobily has selected network specialist Huawei Technologies to construct its nationwide IP bearer network for voice and data services. The development is expected to help Mobily move towards having an all-IP network.

Mobily will deploy Huawei's NetEngine 5000E and NetEngine 40E core routers, and its iManager N2000 DMS and NSM network management systems, to support 3G services across in its national network.

"With Huawei as a key partner we can further build and optimise our 3G network and ensure a smooth transition to an all-IP Network," said Abdulaziz Al Tamami, chief operating officer, Mobily.

Wang Jiading, head of Huawei's regional division for the Middle East, added: "The key to operators' future successes is to transform their existing telecom networks into more adaptable, cost-efficient all-IP networks, giving them access to exciting services anytime and anywhere. All-IP is rapidly becoming a trend in the telecom industry."
