IT vendor HP, in collaboration with CPU manufacturer AMD, has launched a short event to educate its Saudi Arabian channel partners. The meeting with partners, which kicked off yesterday in Riyadh and concludes tomorrow in Jeddah, is intended to train partners to better perceive their customers' needs and learn more about virtualisation, power efficiency, investment protection and performance.

"Our main objective of organising this event is to help our regional channel and resellers get a better understanding of the available HP solutions," explained Khaled Hejazi, HP Personal Systems Group manager for KSA. "Reduced total cost of ownership and platform stability are some of the key challenges that organisations face on a constant level. The energy-efficient dual and quad core processors from AMD successfully combines reduction of energy costs and protects investment in infrastructure, a critical survival factor for businesses of all size," he added.

AMD also announced that it plans to use this event to launch its online channel partner portal, a tool for the use of partners and distributors in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan. Gaith Kadir, regional director for AMD in the MEA and Pakistan, is optimistic that with HP's support the pair will be able extend their presence in the region and has hopes of achieving "greater growth results" in the Kingdom. "Saudi Arabia is a key market for AMD worldwide and we are committed to helping our partners deliver industry leading platform solutions," he added.
