Oman Mobile users can now select tones and music clips that will be heard by callers to their number, with the launch of a Colour Ring Back Tone (CRBT) service.

The CRBT allows Oman mobile users to choose from a range of music and audio clips that will play when someone calls their number, instead of the standard ring tone. The system, which was supplied and implemented by Bharti Telesoft, local partner Mustafa Sultan Telecommunications Co, is intended to offer a value-added service to customers, and to create an additional revenue stream for Oman Mobile.

The service is available now via an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, which allows users to browse content, set up the service, and then download their chosen content to their mobile handset. The service costs 50 baisa ($0.12) per minute to browse the IVR, and 500 baisa ($1.29) per download. It is available in English and Arabic.

Dr Amer Al Rawas, managing director, Oman Mobile Telecommunications commented: "We are very pleased to be the first mobile operator in the Sultanate to provide this service, which customizes the Oman Mobile experience for our customers, and helps the caller by making it more entertaining and interesting when waiting for the mobile user to answer. We see this service as an expression of individuality, and Oman Mobile is happy to provide this service to its customers"

The Bhartisoft CRBT solution is already in use by Areeba Syria, and other operators have similar services.

Sabri Amireh, regional director Middle East and Gulf, Bharti Telesoft said: "We are very excited to be bringing CRBT to Oman with Oman Mobile. CRBT has enjoyed enormous success with operators throughout the Middle East, and we are confident of replicating its success with Oman Mobile."

"CRBT is well recognized as a user centric application in India and other countries in the Middle East. The product has been a big hit and the introduction of this service is certainly going to boost the call experience for Oman Mobile callers," said Minoo Saher, group CEO of Mustafa Sultan Enterprises.
