Saudi firms switch to net for job search

Online recruitment taking off in region, reports specialist software and services firm.

Regional enterprises are increasingly turning to the internet to help them attract and identify the right staff, according to a recruitment software and services provider.

Hiring Solutions reported that one of its clients, an unnamed company in Saudi, received more than 20,000 applications after deploying its online intelligent recruitment platform.

“Saudi Arabia’s biggest challenge is shortage of available talent and the only way forward is to redefine the approach and create a successful employer brand,” said Ben Fawcett, director of Hiring Solutions.

The internet penetration rate is expected to rapidly rise in Saudi Arabia over the next few years with anticipated growth of around 10% on year, according to Madar Research. As of the end of 2006, Saudi Arabia had an internet penetration rate of 21.75%, according to the research firm.

Hiring Solutions provides intelligent evaluation tools, which allow companies to both attract large numbers of online applications and to identify key candidates.The company's products include Sniperhire, a web-based applicant tracking system that facilitates the sourcing, screening and candidate management processes.
