Business intelligence and performance management software vendor Cognos has inked a major regional partnership with Performance Systems, a member company of Almasa Holdings. The business arrangement, signed this week, makes Performance Systems the Cognos Preferred Services Partner for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) based on its record in consulting and implementing critical and high-value Cognos solutions in the region.

Under the new contract, Performance also joins the exclusive Cognos Platinum Consulting Partners club, a status enjoyed by only five other organisations in the world. In addition, the company is now an Authorised Training Partner with a fully fledged training centre and an implementer of choice for this part of the world.

"This is yet again a clear indication of Cognos' commitment to investing in the region," insists Derek Morrison, regional manager, Cognos Middle East. "We are delighted to continue working in sync with Performance Systems, an experienced and well-respected partner with a proven track-record."

Both parties see continued growth potential and are gearing up to meet the increase in demand for BI and CPM solutions in the region. "For us, the bottom line is to enable our customers to achieve their goals and targets while offering the best possible services," says Guy Rickett, managing director at Performance Systems.

"The demand for BI and, more recently, corporate performance management is sharpening our capacity to ensure businesses turn data into valuable information that can further our clients' organisational goals."

Cognos also announced a win with The National Commercial Bank in Saudi Arabia, which will see the institution install the vendor's full BI solution following a successful and complete production roll-out.

Ged Simmons, MEA sales director, Cognos, comments: "Cognos is involved at the cutting edge of the banking and finance industry, and we are proud to see a forward-thinking company like NCB using our advanced technologies to achieve results."
