DEWA trains eManagers

DEWA has become the first government department to adopt the new eLearning module from the Dubai eGovernment to train managers and supervisor level employees.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has become the first government department to adopt the new eLearning module from the Dubai eGovernment to train managers and supervisor level employees.

So far, 50 DEWA employees have registered for the new eManager course. Each will learn 12 different skills through three certification levels (Associate eManager, Qualified eManager and Professional eManager) including managerial leadership, time management and budgeting.

"The eManager certification is designed to be a learner-friendly program that incorporates a virtual business setting, which means that even if the course-takers make mistakes in strategy or execution, they have a chance to learn from them without facing business consequences," said Salem Al Shair, eServices director at Dubai eGovernment.

DEWA is strengthening its partnership with the eGovernment, after introducing an online payment system which saves customers bank fees some months ago. "The eManager certification gives us a chance to reinforce our drive towards automation, while helping our employees enhance their knowledge and hone their skills," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA managing director and CEO. "It will prove crucial in developing the managerial and leadership skills of our supervisors and managers."
