King Disc Technology Corp (KDT) is touting its beautifully-designed CDs and DVDs at GITEX. The Taiwanese manufacturer, which recently acquired the licence from Disney to use its pictures on CDs, is at the show for two reasons. On the one hand, it is showcasing CDs that have a larger printable area than normal CDs.

"This is exclusive to our company," claims Michael Yuan, vice president of marketing and sales, KDT. "No other manufacturer has this right now. The print area on the CDs extends all the way from the outer edge to the inner circle."

The company is seeking distributors in the Middle East for its storage discs as well as to provide Disney pictures for them. "Children will love this. You no longer have to store your digital pictures on a dull CD. You can have Sleeping Beauty or Mickey Mouse on the outside. Alternatively, you can print a photo from a special event like a wedding onto it. This allows you to personalise your CDs," Yuan adds.
