WAN optimisation provider, Packeteer, is promoting its new iShaper solution at its stand in GITEX Technology Week.

"This is effectively the launch of the appliance for the Middle East market. The solution allows enterprises to centralise branch infrastructure, including servers and storage without compromising data integrity. It also allows companies to manage their data in a much more effective manner at a central datacentre," says Bernard Girbal, VP for Europe, Middle East and Africa for the vendor.

According to Girbal, iShaper combines the best of real-time WAN optimisation, monitoring and shaping with wide area file services (WAFS) and key Microsoft services in a single, unified branch office appliance. The product, which was launched globally in June this year, is on display at the stand.

"GITEX is the best place to launch the product. We have had several people at the stand over the last four days and these are people who want to benefit from WAN optimisation. It is a great indicator of the growing awareness among regional firms on what solutions like Packeteer can do for them," enthuses Girbal.

Packeteer plans to open an office in Dubai and employ sales and technical people in order to tap into the fast-growing Middle East market.
