AXIS Solutions, an ICT systems integrator, hopes to capitalise on the lack of local competition at GITEX Business Solutions by promoting its latest services.

The business is one of few Kuwaiti IT companies attending the tradeshow, according to Qasid Parker, director of Axis Solutions' enterprise software solutions division.

"We are based out in Kuwait and very few people come down to display their products or strengths at GITEX," he says.

During the week, Axis Solutions is promoting its enterprise infrastructure and software solutions. The company, which works with clients in the transportation, logistics and warehousing sectors, will also showcase its software support systems.

Parker is confident Axis Solutions' management will take advantage of the limited competition at this year's GITEX by increasing brand awareness.

"There is solid branding, which is good for marketing," he says. Parker adds that the company's relationship with software group Oracle gives credibility to Axis Solutions' operation.

But while Parker believes Axis Solutions will entice prospective clients, he does not expect anyone to sign up with the company during the show.

Since making its first appearance at GITEX three years ago, Axis Solutions has secured new business - albeit after the event.

"Well it sometimes works out and sometimes it doesn't, but it is a very unqualified customer base that we create here. I'm not really expecting us to come here and get prospective clients - it's more about the branding," he says. "We are a big company with almost 200 plus people and we come here for specific branding and recognition. We do not intend to have any prospects this year, but we naturally have a competitive advantage by coming to this exhibition," Parker adds.

According to Parker, the first day was relatively slow but trade continued to pick up in the coming days.

He says: "Saturday was a bit dull because it was the starting day. But the second, third and fourth day at GITEX is very important."

Axis Solutions was launched to provide solutions such as ERP systems, radio frequency identification and warehouse management systems. In recent years, the company's management formed the Scientific Advisory Board to develop new software and establish the company as a leading ICT provider.

The company works with several IT partners, such as Acis, Hale Electronic, Navis and Thuraya.

Other global business associates include Hannover Displays, Teknobil, Microsoft and Boeing.
