The British Computer Society has enjoyed a successful week in its attempt to raise its profile in the region, according to a spokesperson.

Graham E. Morris, international sales manager of The British Computer Society says GITEX Technology Week has successfully raised the group's profile. BCS already boasts almost 60,000 members in more than 100 countries.

"We are particularly involved in the UK but increasingly are being asked to bring our system to other countries," Morris says. "Our aim is to ensure that, wherever there are IT professionals, they are operating to an ethical code and to a professional standard."

The society's biggest boon, he adds, is its ability to promote continuing professional education for members.

"As soon as you do an IT degree nowadays it is out of date. We offer a high level of CPD to members."
