Palm Europe Ltd has signaled its faith in ITE Distribution's capabilities by extending its marketing and distribution agreement to include the Middle East and South Africa (MESA) region.

ITE signed an Independent Marketing Company (IMC) agreement with Palm Europe at today's GITEX, which in effect will see ITE become Palm Europe's MESA headquarters. ITE will take on full responsibilities related to Palm Europe's business development strategy in the region, which includes boosting channel expansion and education, sales and marketing, and brand and product awareness programmes.

ITE will also provide technical support services to resellers and play an active role in customer support and certification of Palm's smartphones in the region.

"We have chosen ITE to become Palm's first independent marketing company as a result of the excellent channel development work it has undertaken over the past year, which has resulted in a solid growth in market share," explains Pascal Lagadec, director of retail and distribution sales, Palm. "We are confident that with the resources ITE is investing, growth will continue."

With around 200 million mobile users in the Middle East and Africa, both Palm and ITE believe there is an opportunity to upgrade these users to messaging devices.
