Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is upping its presence in the Middle East in a major way, as it appears at GITEX Technology Week with new partner Tech Access, and longstanding reseller Sun Microsystems. The Japanese storage giant has identified the Middle East as a key market for growth, and is devoting the necessary resources to the expansion of its regional operations.

The partnership with Tech Access was signed just weeks ago and HDS is looking to capitalise on the new partnership at the show, by talking to visiting enterprise business leaders from around the region. "This expansion has come very naturally to HDS - we have a range of new systems and storage solutions which we're about to release to the market, just as Middle Eastern enterprises are focusing more and more on high-end datacentre environments," says Tony Ward, general manager and sales director for the Middle East at HDS. "Looking at the Arab Technology Awards on Sunday, every single winner there was working with datacentres - this is where the regional market is moving."

HDS sees its strengths as not only its technology leadership, but also its focus on building strong and lasting partnerships with local distributors and resellers. This gives it an advantage when it comes to the level of understanding and integration it can deliver to the market, in contrast to firms that work with a larger number of less-integrated partners, according to Richard Grabinger, director of EMEA partner development at HDS.

"We may not always be the fastest company in the market, but we are the one with the most sustainable and long-term growth. Our ethical business practices and focus on the indirect model also makes HDS a very strong partner for enterprises in the Middle East," says Grabinger.

HDS already boasts a significant number of high-profile enterprise customers, including ACN Arab Technology Award winner Dubal.
