Syrian NGO the Software Industry Forum (SIF) is at this year's GITEX in force, with five of their software company clients also in attendance.

SIF is a non-profit organisation that represents, promotes and advances the Syrian software industry on the global market.

Part of its mission is to transform Syria into a knowledge-enabled economy, a mission it shares with its parent NGO, the Syrian Computer Society.

For this year's exhibition, the forum has upped its participation, according to media manager, Amin Alkusaibati. He claims that the forum learned a lot from taking part in the show last year, which was the first time for it, and is now better prepared to work with the media efficiently and exhibit itself in an appealing way. But he adds that there is already plenty of interest in what the forum does.

"We want to make customers here aware of software companies in Syria. But also, people are genuinely interested in how we organise the forum and how the forum works," he says.
