Ahmed Khalil, a well known face in IT circles for his former roles in Al Futtaim and Toshiba, has joined Logitech as regional manager.

In his new role, Khalil will be responsible for all aspects of the company's business with a particular focus on the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabian, Egyptian and Kuwaiti markets.

"I just joined Logitech five days ago," says Khalil. "My main role is to grow the Logitech Middle East business and develop it in areas where it is not so strong. Logitech is a leader in most product categories in Europe and we want to achieve a similar success in the Middle East.

For this, we need to develop a strong organisation, have an efficient distribution channel in place while also catering to the requirements of distributors and retailers by way of incentives, training and other similar methods."

At the show, Khalil is especially pushing Logitech's newest mouse - the MX Air Rechargeable Cordless mouse, a laser mouse that works both on the desk and in the air. "This revolutionises the way people interact with the computer.

People want to interact with other applications on their PC without getting too close to it, and this allows you to use the mouse in the air like you would your TV remote to say, change the volume, download some photos and so on."

Logitech is also highlighting its Wave keyboard at the show.
