Enhanced IP-based telephony solutions vendor Avaya has extended its one-X portfolio with the launch of web-based one-X Portal aimed at the region's mobile enterprise segment.

Avaya has reported strong demand for advanced communication services in the region's booming telecoms and banking industries with the company further tailoring its solutions for the local market by introducing the first Arabised IP-telephony service.

"The increase in working remotely, the growth of business travel, as well as the regional demand for constant email and internet access are driving adoption of unified communications solutions," said Roger Al Tawil, MENA director channel and marketing at Avaya.

Users can customise the mobility functions to fit their working environment with the one-X Portal, allowing users to streamline back office activities thus increasing front office productivity, claimed company officials.

The company has also marked its participation at this year's GULFCOMMS expo by announcing a tie-up with Dubai Civil Defence Authority. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will provide seamless automated telephony services for the body.

"This is the first such agreement of its kind on the region and the relationship will continue with a host of other projects to be implemented after Ramadan," claimed Nidal Abou-Ltaif, managing director, Middle East and North Africa at Avaya.

"The Dubai authorities realise the best way to keep pace with the rapid pace of change in the region is through the early adoption of technology and we are happy to advance this change," he added.
