Chip vendor AMD is aiming to boost its visibility in the market by inviting partners and GITEX Technology Week visitors to its booth to meet the individuals behind its Middle East strategy. A number of its key executives will be present throughout the week as the company looks to build relations with prospective partners from across the region.

"What we are doing on a personal level is trying to show that there is a face to AMD and making it clear who the distributors and partners can talk to," explains Gautam Srivastava, VP sales & marketing and managing director at AMD MEA and Pakistan. "Our entire team for the region is here and we have also brought over some of the senior team members from Europe. We are inviting partners to come and talk to the decision makers," he adds.

Vincenzo Pistillo, EMEA director of consumer business development, and Herve Barcelo, AMD's most senior distribution chief for the EMEA region, are among the executives to have made the trip to Dubai for the opening period of the show, while more top names will be joining the vendor's efforts later in the week.

Srivastava says the show of force is designed to help AMD strengthen its ties with partners interested in doing business with the vendor or customers seeking an alternative to market leader Intel.
