3M Telecommunications will be courting service providers at GULFCOMMS.

The company thinks the demand for more content, greater speed and new communication protocols is exploding across many markets. It sees services such as high-speed internet access, voice-over-internet, video-on-demand, and HD TV broadcasting as representing an opportunity for telecommunications operators to up their revenues.

3M is pushing the idea of ‘fibre to the home' (FTTH) as a solution to the challenges of delivering high bandwidth to subscribers, economically and dependably.

As such, 3M is using GULFCOMMS to showcase its answers to these challenges, including its concept of FTTX - ‘fibre to the X' - the idea of taking fibre cables to anywhere.

3M is a supplier of copper and fibre optic connectivity, cables, management and diagnostic solutions. Its products are designed to help optimise networks for high-bandwidth transmissions.
