Emirates Post is touting its advanced PoS (Point-of- Sale) system, along with card personalisation and mail aggregation services, personalised stamps and automated accounts at GITEX Technology Week.

The highlight will be its PoS system, which automates counters and back office workflow. Powered by SmartClient, Emirates Post's PoS system is designed to deliver postal and non-postal services across the postal network in the United Arab Emirates. The system enables counter staff to deliver multiple services, including payment of utility bills, Ministry of Labour transactions as well as traffic fines.

According to the firm, the PoS system is the backbone of Emirates Post's public services, as it enables it to add new services, and have a real-time link with new partners. The system was developed by the IT department of the postal firm.

Emirates Post also revealed that it is currently in talks with other countries across the region to transfer the technology to their respective postal networks.

Apart from touting its latest services, the firm also plans to raise its profile in the region at the show.

"By participating in GITEX, Emirates Post is seeking to enhance its brand profile, ahead of a new restructuring of its operations under Emirates Post Group, which will operate diverse entities under its banner. Each unit will work as a profit-centre with functional autonomy. Emirates Post Group will guide initiatives of further diversification, mergers and acquisitions and new partnerships, locally, regionally and internationally," states Hooriya Al-Ali, a representative for the firm.

Meanwhile, Electronic Document Centre (EDC), an Emirates Post subsidiary, is showcasing its solutions in card personalisation, printing and more.

EDC's card centre, certified by Visa and MasterCard, is being used by a number of regional banks for producing credit and loyalty cards.

EDC also offers high-speed variable data and personalised document printing and automatic secured enveloping to corporate clients. Digital document delivery and archiving is also offered. (Stand D8-10, Hall 8)
