Sky debuts 'world's most powerful PC'

Sky Electronics has exclusively revealed what is claimed to be the world's most powerful consumer desktop PC at GITEX Technology Week.

Billed as the revolutionary Annihilator, the desktop PC represents a landmark development for the burgeoning Middle East PC assembly industry.

"We have taken the fastest components available today, water-cooled them and made them run even faster," claims Manoj Thacker, managing director of Sky Electronics.

The Dubai-based company, which is best known as an IT distributor, devised and assembled the Annihilator in conjunction with technology partners including Intel, Microsoft, nVidia and Corsair.

The desktop PC boasts cutting-edge hardware including a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processor, an nVidia motherboard capable of supporting two nVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards in tandem (SLI mode), Corsair 1066Mhz Quad-Core memory and more than 2TB of hard disk space.

Thacker claims the Annihilator represents a revolutionary platform for PC gaming enthusiasts, a claim supported by nVidia's regional product manager Varun Dubey.

"The Annihilator is designed to enable gamers to play the most demanding games at maximum image resolution settings," Dubey says.

The regional manager of Corsair Memory, Philip Bakhramov, says the company leapt at the opportunity to be involved in the landmark project.

"We were extremely keen to partner with Sky to develop this ultimate PC gaming platform," he says.

Thacker says the PC, which is priced at $7500 and includes a Blu-ray DVD drive and Danger Den water cooling system as standard, is also ideally designed for "high-end graphics users and gadget enthusiasts".
