Microsoft to put focus on GITEX Shopper

Whilst not occupying a stand this year, software giant Microsoft will still be present in a big way at this year's GITEX.

Whilst not occupying a stand this year, Microsoft will still be present in a big way at this year's GITEX.

The software giant has opted to take part in this year's show via its partners and to put the focus on GITEX Shopper, the retail element of the show.

Microsoft will launch its new games console Xbox 360 Elite at the event as well as showcasing its recently launched Windows Vista and mobility software Windows Mobile 6.

"We've chosen a different route of communication with our customers at GITEX this year," explained Bharat Kumar, business and marketing officer at Microsoft Gulf. "In previous years, we have focused on specific product activity, such as the business launch of Vista in 2006 - this year is slightly different."

"Microsoft is committed to the growth and development of the IT industry in this region," Kumar added. "Our partnerships across the region reflect this and our commitment to them is borne out by increased focus on partner's at this year's GITEX."

Microsoft's partners at the show include KIT, one of its Microsoft Gold partners, and SKY Electronics.
