Bayanat selects Oracle Billing solution to speed service roll out

Saudi data service providers selects Oracle suite to improve delivery of new services.

Saudi data service provider has rolled out Oracle's billing and service fulfillment solutions, along with ERP & CRM, to enhance speed to market with new services.

Bayanat Al Oula, the Saudi Arabian Data Service Provider, has announced that it has rolled out Oracle's Billing & Revenue Management (BRM), Service Fulfillment Management (SFM), CRM and ERP applications to help it to connect customers to new services more rapidly.

As a DSP, Bayanat offers a number of different services to customers in the Kingdom, including wireless data services, which were soft launched to around 300 customers at the start of July. The company now plans for a full launch in the near future, and expects customer numbers to grow rapidly. As a result, Bayanat required systems that would have a high degree of flexibility to integrate with different communications technology, as well as enable accurate management of customer billing.

Basem Asfoor, chief information officer of Bayanat explained: "Bayanat plans to expand its current service range by offering next-generation products and high quality service to our existing and potential customers. It is crucial that we have the correct IT infrastructure to support this objective. We looked at other vendors but Oracle's product superiority through modular based billing and real time architecture is just what we need to face today's business challenges."

The deployment was carried out in record time, taking less than two and a half months. Among Bayanat's criteria for the solution was that it would offer strong integration to existing infrastructure, while providing flexibility to handle the rapid roll out of new services to retain competitive advantage.

Particularly important was the ability to handle billing for Bayanat's Samsung-based WiMAX network, currently the largest WiMAX deployment in the region, and a key service for the DSP. Bayanat is aiming for 250,000 customers for its consumer wireless services by the end of its second year of operation, so the ability to scale to a large number of customers was also important.

"Bayanat wanted best of breed solutions and wanted a system that would support and facilitate a network that will be going through a very rapid expansion. The Oracle BRM and SFM provide a mature platform that enables the operator to get the benefits of their technology very quickly," said Tim Porter, vice president, EMEA Communications Global Business Unit.
