Psion Teklogix, the RFID and mobile computing specialist has selected GITEX Technology Week to launch its new and Arabised ‘WorkAbout Pro', a Windows CE .NET based handheld computer.

"We're back for our fourth year in a row and GITEX Business Solutions is an ideal platform to engage with customers," says Joe Iarocci, regional director of Psion Teklogix.

"There has been very encouraging demand for handheld and vehicle-mounted mobile computers in the Middle East, and it's exciting for us to offer the new WorkAbout Pro with standard functionality, and now in an Arabised format." The WorkAbout Pro supports a variety of field installable expansion modules including scanners, imagers, RFID modules as well as wireless LAN, WAN and radio.

"The fact that we stock all of the parts and can undertake service procedures right here has proved extremely useful to all of our new customers," Iorocci suggests, adding, "This is the biggest tech show in the Middle East and it's important for us to be here, to generate brand awareness, develop partner relationships and demonstrate the newest Psion products."

The company's Middle East division has seen massive growth driven by the boom in the regional logistics sector.

"We moved into a 600-square-metre warehouse this year where we stock equipment and provide sales and tech support with a dedicated staff of ten. What marks us out from many competitors is that we have a full scale training facility right here in Dubai," Iarocci says.
