The IBM-sponsored GITEX Technology Week Global Conference gets off to a flying start today with this afternoon's keynote address in hall 4A set to attract ICT bosses from across the show.

In his much anticipated talk, Alfred Zollar - the general manager of IBM's Tivoli software division - will highlight the importance of innovation in the global economy and explain to delegates how customers around the world are leveraging technology as a strategic differentiator to innovate and deliver value in the marketplace.

This will be followed tomorrow by several events, the first of which is a dedicated ‘CxO Power Lunch', entitled ‘Keeping pace with growth: Public Sector'. Scheduled to take place in Dubai Room C above Sheikh Maktoum Hall, this will feature business leaders and government officials from this region and beyond who will examine how Middle East governments are implementing e-government systems and how citizens can best be digitally enabled.

This event will be followed at 2.30pm by a head-to-head talk branded ‘Buy or Build: The Software Dilemmaa'.
