Acer and Microsoft team up on promotional offer

Notebook vendor Acer to offer Microsoft Office Professional 2007 pre-installed onto its desktop and notebook PCs.

Notebook vendor Acer is offering Microsoft Office Professional 2007 pre-installed onto its desktop and notebook PCs.

Acer customers can use the software for a free trial period of 60 days before having to decide whether or not to purchase it.

"By incorporating a leading Microsoft product like Office Professional 2007, we are clearly empowering our customers who will benefit from a powerful synthesis," said Mark Prosser, product marketing manager, mobility products at Acer.

The Microsoft Office 2007 package includes: Microsoft Access 2007, Microsoft Excel 2007, Microsoft Outlook with Business Contact Manager, Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, Microsoft Publisher 2007 and Microsoft Word 2007.

Some 40% of PCs sold to small businesses without pre-installed Microsoft Office have the software installed within 60 days of purchase, according to research cited by Microsoft.

"Technology customers in the Middle East are part of an astute market," said Sanjay Kachroo, product marketing manager, desktops and servers at Acer. "The versatility and flexibility of Microsoft's Office Professional 2007, with its unique new interface, will allow users to work offline, synchronise data, and be more efficient."
