Mobile handset maker Motorola has sued Aruba Networks for infringement of patents involving short-range wireless network technologies.

The vendor said yesterday that two of its subsidiaries - Symbol Technologies and Wireless Valley Communications - had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the wireless networks equipment supplier.

The companies allege Aruba has infringed on at least four patents. Two relate to technologies WLAN switching architecture, and another two involve technologies for planning and managing wireless networks.

The subsidiaries are seeking a permanent injunction against Aruba's alleged use of patent technologies as well as monetary damages.

In a statement to ITP.net, Aruba said it had not yet been served the lawsuit.
