The National Bank of Fujairah has donated 101 computers to a Dubai-based recycling initiative.

Through the campaign, which is run by Dubai Municipality, the computers plus 130 monitors also donated, will be refurbished and distributed to various charitable organizations.

The bank said the donation was part of its ongoing community development efforts.

"This program developed by the Dubai Municipality is of particular interest for us since it combines the promotion of education through technology with environmental aspects," Asad Ahmed, general manager of the National Bank of Fujairah said.

Dubai's booming growth has resulted in it becoming one of the world's largest producers of waste. The campaign by Dubai Municipality aims to protect the environment by stopping old computers going to waste, as well as providing charities with equipment for training and education.

The establishment also gives technical support to the charities to help them operate the equipment.
