Wipro, the Indian IT services giant, has announced that it will acquire US outsourcing provider Infocrossing, in a deal worth around $600m. The move will give Wipro an expanded presence in the US market, and will also give the company increased expertise in infrastructure management, enterprise application and business processing outsourcing, particularly for the healthcare market.

The all-cash deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, values Infocrossing at $18.70 per share. It is the largest such deal by an Indian services company, with Wipro looking to attract more customers from the US for its managed services offerings.

Infocrossing, which has around 900 employees in the US, and five data centres, will become part of Wipro Technologies, the global IT services arm of Wipro Ltd.

"Wipro Technologies has identified global infrastructure services as an important driver of growth for the company, and is pleased to add Infocrossing, which provides integrated managed infrastructure services to premier global clients," said Suresh Vaswani, President, Global IT Services Lines, Wipro.
