Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) has slashed its broadband business tariffs by up to 50% as part of a new campaign aimed at benefiting businesses, the telco said in a statement on Tuesday.

The company - Bahrain's leading internet services provider - is cutting rental charges starting today on five of its high-speed internet broadband packages for its business subscribers.

"Batelco has previously promised to offer its business customers new and upgraded deals on broadband services with drastic reductions, now we are delivering on our promises," said Ahmed Al Janahi, Batelco's corporate affairs general manager.

The move will make Batelco's broadband tariffs for businesses among the most competitive in the GCC.

The telco is also set to upgrade current business customers to the five newly reduced and higher speed internet broadband packages starting August 31.

The five newly-reduced packages are the Business 512kbps volume package with 10GB threshold at BD75 per month, the Business 1Mbps with unlimited usage at BD125 per month, the Business 2Mbps with unlimited usage at BD175 per month, the Education 1Mbps with unlimited usage at BD100 per month, and the Education 2Mbps with unlimited usage at BD150 per month.
