Security vendor Blue Coat is looking forward to showcasing its latest offering to visitors at GITEX Technology Week; the MACH 5 solution.

According to the firm's team, MACH 5 facilitates organisations in their management of user and application interactions. Blue Coat claims the solution helps to stop undesirable applications, stifle less-important applications and accelerate critical applications - even when encrypted - and can also guard against viruses, spyware and other threats.

The US-based company, which addresses the Middle East region from its office in Dubai Internet City, predicts that by 2009 half of all branch offices in the region will have direct internet connections, and underlines the importance of internet security, maintaining that such branch offices require the same levels of web security as headquarters. The vendor also asserts it has installed more than 30,000 appliances worldwide and is ranked number one by IDC in the secure content and application delivery market.
