HP prepares to talk clever

Industry leading IT giant outlines its exhibition plans.

HP Middle East's imaging and printing group (IPG) will focus on helping business customers cut their print costs this September, whilst the company's personal systems group (PSG) meanwhile will showcase its brand new smartphone family, with which it aims to leapfrog its competitors in the handheld space over the next twelve months.

HP IPG's GITEX Business Solutions team will be keen to detail the array of intelligent management options and services available with its business printing devices.

"Gartner studies show that by pro-actively managing a printing fleet, a business can reduce its operational costs by up to 30%. Certainly at the CEO level, this aim is the first one that we hear about and discuss," states Amr Hassan, HP IPG Middle East's general manager. Therefore from a business printing perspective HP's staff will be on hand to discuss concepts such as balanced deployment. "On the key topic of fleet management," Hassan says. "We'll have a team of experts on hand to talk customers through the best strategies."

The newly appointed general manager of HP PSG in the region, Serdar Urcar (pictured left), believes that while his company is currently a leader in the laptop field - with a massive 35% market share in the UAE for example - PSG does still have some ground to make up in the handheld device space. His outlook is positive however, as he is confident the firm will make a very real impact this September when PSG's team showcases its long-awaited new sleek handheld, the iPaq 500 series.

The 500 series is the first HP iPaq-branded handheld to move away from the firm's traditionally favoured PDA format and towards a much more compact, mobile phone sized smart and push e-mail-capable device.
