British satellite services wholesaler Inmarsat will use its presence at this year's GULFCOMMS to pitch its latest line of voice-centric handset devices to the region's SMB sector.

Although the company has traditionally been recognised as a provider of high-speed data services in remote areas, the company states that it intends to adopt a more mass market approach.

"For the new mass market strategy, we had to tie-up with specialised partners with more mass-market penetration who can market and distribute these services," explains Samer Halawi, vice president of Inmarsat in the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. To achieve this aim the company has paired with Axiom Telecom, the founding member of the global BRAXDA Alliance.

The company is also keen on underlining its presence in the specialised enterprise segment.

"We will be participating with our channel partners in order to demonstrate to potential customers the full spectrum of our services as well as meet the companies they will be directly liaising with," explains Halawi.

GULFCOMMS is one of the keys to the company's overall service of target-orientated marketing.

"We are looking to offer the services to all of the existing business sectors, but we are primarily targeting the government, media and aid services as well as oil and gas," continues Halawi.
