Senior global representatives from Canada-based BlackBerry vendor Research in Motion (RIM) will be flying into Dubai to attend the region's foremost communications show, GULFCOMMS, this year and support the firm's regional partners.

Although the vendor does not currently have an office within the region, it will enlist the support of partners including Emitac Mobile Solutions to accompany its team at its stand as it sets out to publicise its new apps and latest innovative devices to end users and resellers in the region.

The mobile device vendor will also be keeping a keen eye open for network operators visiting the exhibition as it looks to expand its coverage in the Middle East.

RIM is currently in the process of developing an Arabic-enabled device from its hugely successful BlackBerry range, which will let users type, send and display Arabic text. Sources claim the device is already in its testing phase, but it is as yet uncertain whether the vendor will be ready to showcase an Arabised product at this year's show.
