The UAE's second telecoms provider only launched in February, but GULFCOMMS will give an insight into the breadth, depth and value that the operator is bringing to the Emirates.

The UAE's second telco operator, du, plans to leverage its second consecutive appearance at GULFCOMMS by increasing its visibility and showcasing its current portfolio of ICT services.

Chaired by Ahmad Bin Byat, du has pledged to raise the telecoms bar and win over customers by talking up its enhanced operational efficiency and service delivery in the UAE telecoms sector.

"GULFCOMMS is one of the most important gateways to the Middle East market, and we want to build on our current insights and knowledge through our participation in the event," says Osman Sultan, du's chief executive officer.

Since launching its mobile services in the UAE in March 2007, the company has launched a series of new additions such as HomeCam - a new service that allows users to monitor their homes using their mobile handsets. The service is part of the firm's New Generation Mobile Service portfolio.

"Some of the most exciting developments have occurred in the telecommunications and IT sectors, which have witnessed the opening up of large and previously inaccessible markets, sparking phenomenal growth rates," explains Sultan.

The company reports that US$45 billion will be invested in the UAE telecommunications and information technology sector by 2010.
