Shopper is less about ramping up sales for Game King, the company behind Geekay Games, and more about flagging up its brand to the region's many gamers.

"Shopper is a great marketing tool for us," claims managing director Kishan Palija. "At Shopper we can meet customers, get new customers, and it's just so good for the gaming market here. For us it's very important to be associated with everything to do with games."

In this its third year at the event, Game King will be showcasing and selling the latest multi-format games and hardware consoles from its expanded show stand.

"We'll have the latest games and the best bundles in the market, and we'll also be selling consoles - our primary focus machines being the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and Nintendo DS Lite," Palija says.

September is a particularly relevant time to hold Shopper this year, Palija continues, as it is a frenzied month on the new game front. "There are lots of new game launches coming up, and we'll be showcasing some of these. Halo 3 for instance is coming out on the Xbox 360, and that will be big," he suggests.

Commenting on the region's console market as a whole, Palija comments: "The Wii is something everyone buys," he remarks, "and the PS3 is selling the best, but the 360 has done well since its launch here, so the future is uncertain."
