Media vendor Verbatim will use its presence at Consumer Electronics this year to promote its new ‘colour-background' LightScribe CD-R discs, alongside its range of standard optical media.

LightScribe technology itself enables users with compatible drives and media to ‘burn' basic images and text onto the surface of the disc. Verbatim's team reckons LightScribe technology enables users to better personalise their discs and claims the new ‘colour-background' discs will further enhance this.

The company's new discs will be sold in 25 packs, with every five appearing a different colour; red, green, blue, yellow and orange. Although this media differs from traditional LightScribe media, it remains compatible with current LightScribe drives.
