Former Bluecoat Systems Middle East boss Ray Kafity has officially taken over as the new regional sales director for enterprise gateway security vendor Secure Computing.

Kafity will now lead Secure’s go-to- market model in the Middle East and Africa as it attempts to grow its business in the region.

Kafity brings over 25 years of technology experience to Secure having served in senior roles at Lucent, Iridium, Newbridge and IBM, as well as Bluecoat.

“Secure Computing has very aggressive growth plans for this region during 2007,” said Andrew Philpott, VP EMEA at Secure.

“We can only achieve this by building upon the work that the team has done with existing customers and partners and by developing new relationships to give us the breadth and depth to deliver upon our plans. Ray’s appointment will prove instrumental in that growth and his role is to make the Secure Computing MEA region a success,” he added.

The MEA operation falls under Secure’s ‘international division’ which more than doubled sales year-on-year to US$50m during the first nine months of 2006. International revenues now account for 40% of its business.
